Bruce has had a varied career in the television production industry. In 1972, after taking a television production class in high school, he began working at the one of the earliest cable TV networks operated by Off Track Betting in Upstate New York. He was involved in the engineering and build out of the TV station and eventually learned the operations side. By age 16 he was directing live newscasts and producing programming for the network. After attending Grahm Junior College in Boston he traveled and freelanced in TV production as a production assistant and grip in both San Francisco and Atlanta. In 1980, Bruce took a job with the ABC affiliate in Albany, New York working on the popular PM Magazine show. With a small staff and few resources, he was able to learn many functions associated with a daily entertainment show – camera operator, audio, creative, writing, editing and television station operations. In 1984 Bruce decided to move on to create his own production company in the Albany area shooting and directing commercials and industrial videos for corporations and businesses such as Bruger’s Bagel Bakery, General Electric and PSEG, New Jersey’s power company. A job opportunity in Tampa, Florida gave Bruce the chance to leave the cold Northeast and move to sunny Florida. He became the Senior Producer for a company producing home videos. Moving on after that venture he worked for a company in the fledgling Placed Based Media industry producing, shooting and directing videos for VMS TV on pet care that were placed on VHS tapes in over 4000 veterinarian offices around the country. The place based model evolved into another category – pediatric health care. Bruce shot and produced the videos that were now on video disc and DVD in pediatrician’s offices. This division, The Good Health Channel, was then sold to CNN and was in fact the pilot program for what is now Accent Health, seen in thousands of physician’s offices around the country. With the sale of that company, Bruce once again formed his own production company. He acted as Director of Photography, director and producer for local commercials, corporate and industrial videos and was a camera op for many ESPN & ESPN2 programs including the Iditarod Challenge shooting from Anchorage to Nome, numerous off-shore boat races across the U.S. and even went ice climbing in Colorado to shoot K-2 climbers practicing for their adventure.

As circumstances have it, one shoot Bruce was on changed everything. In the early ‘90’s he met the folks from HSN Direct shooting an infomercial, hit it off and never went back to traditional production. As the son of salesman, Bruce understood the genre immediately. Working as the Associate Director of Production at HSN Direct, he first was assigned to “fixing” shows…and he did. Creating a hit with a show that had been limping along. He was made Director of Production in 1994 and was off with Kevin Harrington to Europe, Asia, the Mid East and South America as Kevin was opening those markets to direct response…even shooting an infomercial in Arabic at the foot of Sphinx. In 1996, Bruce took the position as head of the Infomercial Division of Banyan Productions in Philadelphia. He was only at Banyan for a year when the bug to be on his own bit once again. He and his wife, Shannon, started Star Direct and produced a good many shows and spots from their home office in Philadelphia, such as the Hollywood Celebrity Diet. Through Star Direct, he began producing again for the Harrington’s who had left HSN Direct and started Reliant Interactive Media back in the Tampa Bay area. The work load and travel made the decision to move back to Florida an easy one. He took the position of Vice President – Production for Reliant. Both Bruce and Shannon helped build that company – shooting an amazing 30 shows in just 18 months with an impressive hit ratio. Reliant merged with Thane International giving Bruce the opportunity to be even more creative and, armed with a production team of nine, created hit infomercials like True Sleeper, the Q Grill and many others. When the Thane contract was up, he moved with the Harrington’s back to Reliant to go on to produce even more hits like The Dual Drill (#1 on IMS in ’06), Pressa Bella, The Scrub King and many more. Opportunities arose and it was time to go back on his own, this time for good, with Jordan Direct.

Since 2007 Jordan Direct has been busy producing short and long form DR, they first acquired one Avid edit system and then another, steadily growing to become one of the leading DR production companies in the world. Bruce is truly proud to have created a successful family business and run that business with integrity and passion for the direct response industry.

Currently, Bruce lives on St. Pete Beach in a restored 1926 home with his wife, Shannon, and their youngest daughter, Sydney. His oldest daughter, Sarah, and her husband, Mike, are partners in the company and help run the day to day operations. Their middle daughter, Kate, is attending the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg.

Sarah is an integral part of the success of Jordan Direct and outstanding in what she does. She’s proud of her interaction with clients, crew and talent on the set and loves watching her set designs become reality. She also enjoys working with new products. But most importantly, she’s proud of her “ability to keep things together when it gets really tricky!”

Sarah lives on St. Pete Beach, Florida with her husband, Mike, her Shitzu, Oso and their two cats.
